Celebrating 14 years of service
Delivering quality care since 2006
Our founder, Damon Ashton started in the healthcare industry in 1993 managing group homes for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance (formerly the Spastic Centre of NSW). He progressed to management positions within the industry but soon became frustrated with the low levels of compassion and service delivery from many providers. In 2006 Damon made the decision to change how care was being administered to our most vulnerable members of the community – People with disabilities, frail and aged and those with acquired and often lifelong injuries.
Care1 has quickly grown to employ a professional and reliable team of disability services workers and nursing staff, providing a high level of care to the community for over ten years.

I am originally from London and have been living in Australia for over 7 years. Previous to Care1, I was an employment consultant for school leavers with intellectual difficulties, teaching classes of teenagers how to find employment and support themselves independently. I have also worked as a carer for people who have autism and Aspersers, dementia, down syndrome and a wide range of intellectual difficulties. I always feel happier doing a job that I feel is making a difference to peoples lives.
I like traveling, seeing friends, going out and walking.
I have always had a strong passion for helping others and really enjoy learning from all people with special needs.
My background is in music & nursing, working in the disability and aged care sectors within varied roles from Person Centred Care Trainer, to Management, Community Support Worker & Volunteer Respite Worker positions.
I have had the pleasure of working with many wonderful people sharing interests in poetry & song writing, making positive connections through poetry groups and music programs.
It is great opportunity working within Care1, making a positive difference in a team environment working towards helping people achieve their personal best.
The journey may not always be easy for others, often facing many challenges to reach their chosen goals but the greatest reward is to help make people happy trying to get there….
Prior to working with Care1, Ashleigh completed her Bachelors of Social Science whilst working in various customer service roles. Ashleigh started with Care1 as a support worker in 2018 and transitioned into the Care Coordinator role in September 2019.
Ashleigh enjoys exploring the out doors and binge watching netflix.
I have been a part of the Care1 team since 2016 in an administrative role. Working at Care1 has provided me with the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally. As well as helping instill a passion for helping people that I didn’t know I had when I initially entered the industry as a fresh faced 19 year old. Outside of work I enjoy sport (enough to spend a week’s wages on a premier league game), going out with mates on the weekend (my hairline may beg to differ but I am still young… sort of), working out (and then proceeding to smash a pack of Tim Tams) and spending time with family (less so with my teenage sister).
